MBA Test Waiver Eligibility

Our Tepper MBA program is focused on the success of our students in the classroom and in achieving strong career outcomes. The application process allows us to assess each candidate's readiness for the academic rigor of the program and provide guidance that supports future success.

We believe standardized exams are one way that business programs gauge academic readiness; however, while many Tepper MBA applicants will submit a GMAT/GRE/EA score, we also recognize there are multiple ways to demonstrate academic readiness. This is the reason we offer a test waiver option.

Here is some guidance on our test waiver option:

    • Test waivers will be granted on a case-by-case basis.
    • Waivers are evaluated primarily on evidence of academic readiness for the Tepper MBA.
    • Receiving a test waiver does not indicate admission to the Tepper MBA program.
    • The admission decision will be based on a holistic review of the full and complete application.
    • Even if you are granted a waiver, the admissions committee may recommend or require additional academic preparation prior to the start of the program to support academic success.
    • Applying with a test waiver will not affect your scholarship eligibility.

How to Request a Test Waiver
To request the waiver, you must submit an undergraduate transcript (unofficial copies are acceptable) as part of your waiver request. The transcript serves as the foundation of our review and allows the Admissions Committee to assess your academic background.

In addition to the required undergraduate transcript, you may choose to submit supporting documentation that provides a more comprehensive view of your academic preparedness. You may submit a brief optional essay describing how your academic, professional, and personal experiences have prepared you for success in the Tepper MBA program.

    Supporting materials may include:
    • Additional academic transcripts, including graduate-level coursework or degrees.
    • Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, PMP, Six Sigma, or similar credentials.
    • Diplomas, certificates, or evidence of completion from quantitative, analytical, or business-related coursework.
    • Information about professional experience involving quantitative analysis, data-driven decision making, finance, engineering, technology, operations, or other analytical responsibilities.
    • Scores from expired GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment exams, if available.
    • Scores from other professional or graduate admissions examinations (e.g., MCAT, LSAT, DAT, PCAT).
    • Completion of supplemental coursework in subjects such as statistics, calculus, economics, accounting, finance, data analytics, or programming.
    • Any other information that demonstrates your readiness for the academic rigor of the Tepper MBA experience.
